Grandma Tillery'S Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. cucumbers, sliced
    2 gal. cold water
    lime (approximately 2 c.)
    3 lb. sugar
    3 pt. vinegar
    1 small box pickle spices
Preparation
    Soak sliced
    cucumbers
    in cold water to which lime has been added,
    for 24 hours.
    Drain and soak in clear cold water for 4 hours;
    changing
    water
    every
    hour and draining.
    Mix sugar, vinegar and a small box of pickling spices.
    Bring to a boil; pour
    over
    cucumbers.
    Let
    stand overnight.
    Boil one hour;
    add a few drops of coloring.
    Put in jars and seal.
