Date Cake - cooking recipe

1 c. chopped dates
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. soda
1 c. margarine
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. milk
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. butterscotch chips
1 3/4 c. flour
Preparation

Pour boiling water over dates, add baking soda and let stand while preparing rest of cake.
Cream oleo, sugar, egg and milk. Add date mixture, flour, 1/2 cup nuts, 1/2 cup butterscotch chips. Pour into greased 14 x 9-inch pan.
Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup nuts and 1/2 cup chips over batter.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40-45 minutes.
