Pickled Peaches - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. sugar
    1 qt. cider vinegar
    1/4 c. water
    small fresh peaches (about 6 lb.)
Preparation
    Boil sugar, vinegar and water until sugar is dissolved.
    Wash peaches.
    Add to the syrup and boil gently until fruit is fork-tender.
    Pack peaches in hot sterilized jars and fill with pickling liquid.
    Serve as relish with meats.
