Boatman Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 lb. fish (firm white), cut up
    2 1/2 large onions, sliced
    3/4 c. olive oil
    1 (19 oz.) can tomatoes
    2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
    1 1/2 tsp. dried sweet pepper
    3/4 bunch parsley
    3/4 c. white wine
    2 1/4 c. water
Preparation
    Salt fish and let stand in refrigerator a few hours.
    Make sauce, browning onion in oil.
    Add next 6 ingredients.
    Simmer 30 minutes, add fish and cook until done.
    Serve over or with French bread.
