Homemade Soap - cooking recipe

Ingredients

11 c. melted or strained fat
5 c. rain water
1/2 c. ammonia
1 can lye
1/2 c. powdered Borax
1/2 c. granulated sugar

Preparation

Dissolve lye in 4 cups of water.
Add ammonia, Borax and sugar, previously dissolved in water.
Slowly pour lukewarm lye mixture into melted grease in a stone jar, stirring constantly until creamy.
Cover until cool enough to cut in bars.
