Schaum Tortes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. egg whites
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 tsp. vinegar
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. almond flavor
Preparation
    Beat egg whites, salt, cream of tartar and vinegar until stiff.
    Add sugar very gradually, a teaspoon at a time.
    Beat until mixture holds a stiff peak.
    Add flavorings.
    Cover baking sheet with brown paper.
    Shape mixture with a spoon into uniform mounds.
    Makes 8 small or 6 large meringues.
    Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
    Bake at 225\u00b0 for about 1 hour.
    Remove from baking sheet.
    Cool.
    Serve with fresh fruit topping and ice cream.
