Blue Ribbon Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers, not peeled
    4 sliced white onions
    2 green peppers, slivered
    3 cloves garlic
    1/3 c. salt
    4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    3 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Combine cucumbers, onions, peppers and garlic in large pot. Cover with 1/3 cup salt and ice for 3 hours.
    Drain well.
    Combine sugar, turmeric, celery seed and vinegar.
    Pour over drained cucumbers and heat just to boiling.
    Seal in jars that have been sterilized.
    Use a boiling water bath for 15 minutes.
    Makes 7 pints.
