Ingredients

1 c. butter or margarine, softened
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs and beat until fluffy.
Add vanilla, flour and baking powder.
Refrigerate until dough is quite firm.
Roll about 1/4 of dough out at a time on a floured board.
Roll about 1/8-inch thick.
Do not overwork dough or it will stick to the board.
Cut out cookies with cookie cutter and bake on cookie sheet in preheated 325\u00b0 oven or until light brown. May be sprinkled with colored or plain sugar before baking.
For holiday cookies cut out with Christmas or gingerbread cutters. Makes about 80 (2-inch) round cookies.
