Pea Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 container bacon bits
    1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
    1 (6 oz.) green peas
    1 head lettuce
    1/2 c. mayonnaise
    1 small onion, divided into rings
Preparation
    Break lettuce into bite-size pieces in a casserole dish. Separate onion rings and distribute evenly over lettuce.
    Drain green peas; add to the lettuce and onion.
    Spread mayonnaise over this; try to seal mixture evenly.
    Sprinkle with cheese and bacon bits.
    Refrigerate overnight before serving.
