Caramel Sauce(For Puddings) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 c. cold water
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Melt butter. Add sugar, then cornstarch which has been dissolved in the water. Bring slowly to the boiling point, stirring until blended. Remove from heat. Add vanilla (brandy or rum may be substituted).
    Serve warm sauce over pudding.
