Basic Marinata Sauce(To Be Used Alone Over Pasta) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium-large onion, chopped
    4 cloves garlic, minced (more if desired)
    1 tsp. each: basil, oregano and parsley (more to suit taste)
    1/4 c. red wine (optional)
    crushed red pepper (optional)
    2 (28 oz. each) cans Italian tomatoes, crushed
Preparation
    In a large skillet saute onions in olive oil.
    When almost light golden, add garlic.
    Continue to saute 2 additional minutes. Add 2 cans tomatoes and add basil, oregano, parsley, 1 teaspoon each (more if desired) salt, black pepper plus red wine and red pepper, if desired.
    Cook, uncovered, for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Serve over favorite pasta.
