Curried Fall-Fruit Compote - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c chopped onion
    4 Tbsp beef or chicken broth
    1 tsp curry powder
    1/2 tsp ground cumin
    1 pear, peeled, cored and chopped
    1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored and chopped
    1 Red Delicious apple, peeled, cored and chopped
    2 dried apricots, cut up and soaked 20 minutes in 2 Tbsp apricot or other fruit-flavored brandy or orange juice
    1/4 c golden raisins
Preparation
    In a large saucepan over medium heat simmer onion in 2 Tbsp broth until limp. Add curry powder and cumin. Stir over medium-high heat about 15 seconds. Add remaining ingredients, including the brandy.
    Cover and
    cook over low heat 20 minutes until fruits are tender and flavors blended. Serve hot. Makes 4 servings.
