Split Pea And Barley Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. chicken broth
    3 1/2 c. water
    1 1/2 c. split peas, rinsed and drained
    1/2 c. barley
    3/4 c. diced carrots
    1/2 c. diced onion
    1/2 c. diced celery
    1 tsp. minced garlic
    1/4 tsp. dried thyme
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Put all ingredients in 4-quart pot and simmer, uncovered, 1 hour or until all is tender.
