My Best Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter
    1/4 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. molasses
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Cream butter, shortening and sugar.
    Add beaten egg and molasses, then add dry ingredients that have been sifted together. Add hot water last; beat until smooth.
    Bake in greased shallow pan for 35 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    The batter is soft, but makes a fine cake.
