Beer Pastry - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
1 lb. butter, shortening or lard
4 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 can beer
1 jar marmalade
1 c. powdered sugar
Preparation
-
Put the shortening in a bowl and cream it by hand until creamy. Add salt, baking powder and sugar; continue beating, adding the flour little by little.
Continue by adding the beer until you have a soft dough. Knead. You will have 1 large ball. Divide it into small balls and flatten them like tortillas. Put marmalade or jelly in the center and fold in the middle. Seal the edges by pressing them with a fork. Put them on a greased cookie sheet and cook them in a 400\u00b0 oven until brown. Roll them in powdered sugar.
