Crisp Pickle Slices - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. cucumber, sliced
    6 medium onions, sliced
    1/3 c. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    2 green pepper, sliced
    2 cloves garlic
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    3 c. vinegar (if very strong, use 1 1/2 c. vinegar and 1/2 c. water)
Preparation
    Do not pare cucumbers.
    Slice very thin.
    Add onions, peppers, garlic and salt.
    Cover with cracked ice.
    Mix thoroughly; let stand for 3 hours, then drain.
    Mix remaining ingredients; add cucumber mixture and heat just to the boiling point.
    Seal in hot, sterilized jars.
    Makes 8 pints.
