Portuguese Sopa Transmontana(Soup From Beyond The Mountains) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small head cabbage
    2 medium potatoes
    1 turnip
    6 carrots
    1 lb. pork, cut in 4 pieces
    2 oz. butter
    1 onion
    1 tsp. salt
    toasted bread
    water to cover
Preparation
    Put the water, roughly chopped vegetables, salt and pork in large saucepan.
    Simmer for 2 hours.
    Dice toasted bread and when serving soup, add this and the butter to soup.
    Yields 4 servings.
