Tomato Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. onion
    1/2 c. butter
    7 slices bread
    7 c. tomatoes, peeled and sliced
    salt
    pepper
    sugar
    cheese (Mozzarella or Cheddar)
Preparation
    Cook onion in butter until tender.
    Remove from heat and add bread.
    Layer tomatoes sprinkled with sugar, pepper and salt, then bread crumb mixture, then cheese; repeat.
    Bake 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
