Great-Grandmother Shrout'S Sand Tarts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter or Crisco
    6 eggs
    2 lb. brown sugar
    7 c. flour or enough to stiffen dough
    cinnamon
    granulated sugar
    whole nuts
    1 egg plus 1/2 shell of water, well beaten (to smear)
Preparation
    Combine butter/Crisco, eggs and brown sugar.
    Gradually add flour.
    Mix well.
    Put in icebox in mixing bowl and cover with waxed paper and cloth to chill.
    Remove from icebox and take by small amounts and roll very thin.
    Cut in circles with cookie cutter.
    Put on cookie sheet and apply smear mixture with pastry brush.
    Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
    Dot with a nut in center.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven until golden brown.
    Time will vary from oven to oven.
