Split Pea And Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. split peas
    1/2 c. lentils
    5 c. vegetable broth
    3/4 c. sliced carrots
    3/4 c. sliced celery
    1 medium red or green pepper, chopped (about 1 c.)
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 bay leaf
    1 tsp. ground cumin
Preparation
    Rinse and drain peas and lentils.
    In a Dutch oven, combine peas, lentils, broth, carrots, celery, red pepper, onion, bay leaf and cumin.
    Bring mixture to boiling.
    Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 1 hour or until peas are tender.
    Remove bay leaf.
