Gramma'S Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. plus 1 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 tsp. soda
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Measure and sift dry ingredients together.
    Cut in the shortening; stir in the buttermilk.
    When thoroughly mixed, turn onto a floured board.
    Knead and fold dough about 8 times, but keep the dough soft.
    Roll to about 1/2-inch thick and cut with floured cutter or a glass.
    Place on a baking pan and brush tops with melted butter.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
