*Scottish Shortbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. cornstarch
    2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1/2 c. confectioners sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. butter
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Sift flour with cornstarch, sugar and salt 3 times.
    In a large bowl with wooden spoon, beat butter until creamy.
    Gradually work in flour mixture.
    Pat into 9 x 9-inch pan.
    Prick with fork all over (right through until fork hits bottom of pan).
    Bake for about 45 minutes, until slightly golden.
    To test for doneness, take from oven and cut small piece. Shortbread should be uniform in color; no dark line appearing in the center.
    Cut into squares while warm.
    If desired, sprinkle with sifted confectioners sugar.
