North Dallas Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. lean beef, coarsely ground
    1 qt. water
    2 c. minced onion
    3 Tbsp. salt
    3 cloves garlic, crushed
    1 tsp. cumin seed
    1 tsp. oregano
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. brown sugar
    1 (10 oz.) can green chilies and tomatoes
    2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
    4 Tbsp. chili powder
    1 pkg. chili mix
    2 bay leaves
    3 Tbsp. paprika
Preparation
    Sear meat until gray.
    Add water and onion.
    Cook for 1 hour and add remaining ingredients. Cook, covered, in a Dutch oven for 45 minutes.
    Remove lid and cook until desired consistency. Freezes very well.
