Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. dry navy beans
    4 qt. hot water
    1 1/2 lb. smoked ham hocks
    1 onion, chopped
    1 Tbsp. butter
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Combine ingredients in large covered pot. Boil slowly for 3 hours.
    Season with salt and pepper to taste.
