Ingredients

1 lb. unsalted butter
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 jigger whiskey (optional)
2 to 2 1/2 lb. flour
powdered sugar (same as confectioners sugar) for sprinkling baked cookies
Preparation

Soften butter to room temperature; beat with electric mixer until lite and creamy.
Add sugar; beat 5 minutes until smooth. Then add whiskey and egg yolks, beating until well blended.
Add in baking soda and flour to make soft dough.
