Smothered Chicken - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lg. chicken fryer (3-4 lb.)
Salt & pepper to taste
1 1/2 sticks butter or margarine
1 1/2 C. water
Milk, cream or Half & Half for gravy
Preparation

Split fryer down back. Salt and pepper chicken pieces and rub with flour. Place 1 1/2 sticks butter or margarine in roaster; melt in oven. Roll fryer in melted butter and place split side down. Add approximately 1 1/2 cups water. Bake at 350 degrees until done, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
