Sesame Seed Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. (8 oz.) sesame seed
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. light corn syrup
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Spread sesame seed on large baking sheet; toast in 350\u00b0 oven until lightly golden, about 10 minutes, stirring often.
    In 3-quart saucepan, melt butter or margarine; stir in corn syrup and sugar.
    Cook and stir over high heat until candy thermometer reaches soft crack stage (290\u00b0).
    Remove from heat and stir in sesame seed, vanilla and salt.
    Immediately pour onto two buttered 15 x 10 x 1 1/2-inch jelly roll pans; spread out thinly.
    Cool. Break into bite-size pieces.
    Makes about 2 pounds.
