Baked Fresh Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large firm ripe tomatoes
    3/4 tsp. sugar
    2 c. finely grated dry French breadcrumbs
    4 Tbsp. melted butter or margarine
    1 clove garlic
    2 green onions, minced or 2 Tbsp. minced chives
    1 tsp. dried oregano, crushed
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Cut tomatoes in half.
    Salt each half lightly and sprinkle with a pinch of sugar.
    Combine breadcrumbs, melted butter, garlic, green onion, oregano, salt and pepper.
    Mound over tomato halves, place under broiler just until golden on top, then bake at 350\u00b0 for about 20 minutes, just until tomatoes are done but not collapsed.
    Yields 8 servings.
