Italian Meat Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. oil
    4 lb. ground beef
    2 c. minced onion
    4 cloves minced garlic
    5 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
    5 tomato paste cans water
    5 (1 lb. 13 oz.) cans tomatoes
    2 Tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 bay leaf
    2 tsp. dried basil
Preparation
    In large saucepot, heat oil; saute ground beef, onion and garlic, stirring often.
    Add tomato paste, water, tomatoes (that have been forced through a sieve), seasonings, sugar and herbs. Simmer slowly 2 hours or longer; stir occasionally.
    Taste and add additional seasonings, if required.
    Add more water if necessary. Makes 8 quarts meat sauce.
    Recipe may be doubled.
    Grated Romano or Parmesan cheese for topping spaghetti.
    Freshly grated cheese gives superior flavor.
    Makes 24 servings.
