Senate Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 ham bone
    1 pkg. dried navy beans (16 oz.)
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    2 stalks celery, chopped
    2 qt. water
    1 can tomatoes (16 oz.)
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/4 tsp. dried basil
Preparation
    Soak beans according to directions on package. Combine ham bone, onion, celery, garlic and water to drained beans.
    Cover and simmer for 1/2 hour.
    Add tomatoes and seasonings. Simmer for about 2 hours more.
