Vegetable Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 medium potatoes, sliced
    16 carrots, sliced
    8 c. peeled tomatoes
    4 c. cut green beans
    4 c. corn, cut from cob
    4 c. chopped cabbage
    salt and pepper to taste
    onions and ground beef (if desired)
    8 qt. water
Preparation
    Put all vegetables and water in a large soup kettle and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
    Put in jars and cook in hot water bath for 2 hours.
