Sand Tarts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
7/8 cup butter or margarine (2 sticks minus 2 Tbsp.)
    4 Tbsp. confectioners' sugar
    1 cup chopped nuts
    2 cups flour
    1 Tbsp. water
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1/3 cup soft shortening
1 1/2 cups dark molasses (12 oz. jar of Grandma's Molasses)
    1 cup brown sugar, packed
    6 cups sifted flour
    2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. each salt, allspice, ginger, ground cloves, cinnamon
Preparation
    Chill dough.
    Roll out thick (3/8 inch).
Cut with 2 1/2 inch round cutter or use shaped cutter if desired.
Place 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 13 to 15 minutes.
Cool on wax paper, turning after about 3 minutes (to keep bottom from getting moist).
When finished with all, place in cookie jar.
Mix pieces of fresh bread, torn 1/4 inch.
This will soften and keep cookies moist.
Will need to replace with fresh bread every 2 to 3 days. Feed old bread to birds or use as bread crumbs in other recipes.
