Ingredients

1 qt. blackberries, peaches, strawberries or apples
1/2 c. water
1 1/2 to 2 c. granulated sugar, divided
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/4 c. butter or margarine
1 c. self-rising flour (see note)
1 c. milk
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon (optional)
Preparation

Wash berries; drain well.
In a large saucepan, combine berries, water and 1/2 to 1 cup sugar (to taste).
Cook until mixture is hot and sugar is dissolved.
Remove from heat and add lemon juice.
