Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. light corn syrup
    1/2 c. hot water
    1 tsp. salt
    2 c. raw peanuts
    1 tsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Combine sugar, syrup, water and salt in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a full boil (soft ball stage, 238\u00b0) and add peanuts. Cook until nuts snap and syrup begins to turn color.
    Add butter and vanilla.
    Cook until amber color and continue cooking slowly to 300\u00b0, stirring occasionally.
    Remove from heat and add baking soda, stirring well.
    Pour immediately onto buttered hard surface.
