Squash Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 medium size yellow squash
    1 egg, beaten
    1 medium onion, chopped
    3/4 c. self-rising cornmeal
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    vegetable oil
Preparation
    Trim squash ends; slice and cover with water.
    Cook 20 minutes over medium heat until tender.
    Drain well.
    Mash and drain again. Combine squash and next 5 ingredients.
    Drop by scant tablespoon into 350\u00b0 oil.
    Fry 5 minutes.
    This mixture can be refrigerated until next day if it makes too much.
