Meringue Shells - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. sugar
Preparation

Have egg whites at room temperature.
Add vanilla, cream of tartar and a dash of salt.
Beat to soft peaks.
Gradually add sugar, beating until very stiff peaks form and sugar is dissolved. Meringue will be glossy.
Cover baking sheet with plain paper. Draw 8 circles 3 1/2 inches in diameter.
Spread each with 1/3 cup of meringue.
Using back of spoon, shape into shells.
Bake at 275\u00b0 for 1 hour.
For crisper meringues, turn off heat; let dry in oven with door closed for about 1 hour.
Serve with vanilla ice cream and strawberries.
