Ingredients

3 or 4 onions
2 or 3 c. buttermilk (or ice water)
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. water
1 c. flour
1 Tbsp. oil
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Preparation

Slice\tonions\t3/8-inch
thick.
Soak\t30
minutes
in buttermilk\t(or ice water).
Combine egg, salt, baking powder, water, flour, lemon juice and pepper.
Stir until smooth.
Dip onions and fry in 350\u00b0 oil.
Drain.
