Fried Okra - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. fresh okra
    3 large eggs, beaten
    1 tsp. water
    2 c. cornmeal
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    vegetable oil
Preparation
    Rinse okra; drain well and pat dry.
    Remove tip and stem ends. Cut okra crosswise into 1/2-inch slices.
    Set aside.
    Combine eggs and water in a bowl; stir well.
    Add okra.
    Toss gently to coat well.
    Combine cornmeal, salt and pepper in a bowl; stir well.
    Add okra to cornmeal mixture, a few slices at a time, tossing gently to coat well.
    Pour oil to depth of 1-inch in a large heavy skillet.
    Heat to 375\u00b0.
    Fry okra in hot oil over medium heat until golden.
    Drain on paper towels.
    Yields 8 servings.
