Soft Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. boiling water
    1 egg
    1 c. molasses
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. lard (use other shortening)
    2 c. flour
    spice to suit
Preparation
    This recipe was used by my grandmother, Luella McClintick Runyan, 1862-1937.
