Hillbilly Dumplings - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 egg
1/2 c. shortening
enough cooled chicken broth to cook dumplings
Preparation

Mix flour, salt, baking powder, egg and shortening thoroughly. Add 1/4 cup broth to make dough stiff.
Roll dough into 1/4-inch thickness and cut.
Add milk to broth.
Heat and add dumplings, salt and pepper to taste.
Bring to a rolling boil, then turn heat down to low.
Cook slowly until done.
