Ingredients

2 Tbsp. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
1 1/2 c. sour cherries, drained (or 1 can cherries)
1/4 c. cherry juice
1/4 c. sugar
Preparation

Cream together butter and sugar.
In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Add milk and dry ingredients alternately to butter/sugar mixture; mix well.
Pour into a greased 8 x 8-inch pan.
Combine cherry juice and sugar in pan and heat until sugar dissolves; add cherries.
Spread this over batter.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
