Farmer'S Ribs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 lb. country-style pork ribs
    1 1/2 c. onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
    1/3 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. (8 oz. can) tomato sauce
    1/3 c. brown sugar, packed
    1/4 c. soy sauce
    3 Tbsp. cider vinegar
2 Tbsp. chili paste with garlic (available in Oriental markets; optional)
Preparation
Blanch ribs in a large kettle of simmering water for 30 minutes. Drain. While ribs blanch, in a large saucepan, cook the onions and garlic in the butter over low heat, stirring, for 15 minutes until softened. Add the tomato sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, vinegar and chili paste, if desired. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes. Arrange ribs in a shallow baking dish. Spoon sauce over the ribs. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 20 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350\u00b0. Brush with sauce. Bake 20 minutes more. Turn meat over. Brush again with sauce and bake another 20 minutes. Serve hot or slightly cooled.
