Scalloped Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 medium onions, skinned
    1 c. diced, cooked celery, drained
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    3 Tbsp. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    2 c. milk
    1/2 c. blanched almonds
Preparation
    Cook onions in boiling water slowly, uncovered, about 1/2 hour.
    Drain.
    Cook celery the same method; drain.
    Melt margarine or butter in saucepan.
    Add flour, salt and pepper, stirring until bubbly.
    Remove from heat.
    Very slowly blend in milk.
    Then stir and cook until thickened.
