4 1/2 tsp. double-acting baking powder or 6 3/4 tsp. single-acting
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. vegetable shortening
1 1/8 c. milk
1 tsp. almond extract
2/3 c. egg whites
Preparation

All ingredients must be at room temperature.
Makes two 8-inch square layers or two 9-inch round layers.
