Candy Cane Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. margarine
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. almond extract
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. red food coloring
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Mix together sugar, margarine, egg, almond extract, and vanilla.
    Add flour and salt.
    Divide dough into halves.
    In one half, blend red food coloring.
    Roll 1 teaspoon of each colored dough into a strip about 4 inches long. Place strips side by side, press lightly together and twist like a rope.
    Place on cookie sheet.
    Curve top down to form handle of cane.
    Bake 9 minutes or until lightly brown.
    Makes 3 dozen.
