Booze Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. seedless raisins
    2 c. water
    1/2 c. shortening
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. allspice
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped walnuts
    2 Tbsp. bourbon whiskey
Preparation
    Cover raisins with water and simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
    Drain, saving 3/4 cup cooking liquid.
    Cool.
    Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly.
    Beat in egg.
    Sift together flour, soda, spices and salt.
    Blend into creamed mixture alternately with cooking liquid.
    Stir in raisins, nuts and whiskey.
    Pour into 2 greased 9-inch layer pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
    Remove from pans; cool thoroughly.
    Frost tops and sides with Bourbon Hard Sauce.
    Decorate top with walnut halves.
