Beef Rice Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. sliced carrots
    1 1/2 c. canned green peas
    3 c. water
    2 tsp. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. pepper
    3/4 c. uncooked rice
    2 Tbsp. chopped onion
Preparation
    Brown meat and onion; drain.
    Add carrots, peas, 2 cups water, salt and pepper to meat.
    Heat 5 minutes; stir rice into meat and vegetable mixture.
    Bring to a boil; lower heat, cover and cook 20 minutes or until rice is tender and fluffy.
    With last cup of flour and water, make a paste.
    Add to rice mixture; cook 5 minutes and serve.
    Yields 8 servings.
