Divinity Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. Karo syrup
    1/2 c. water
    1 c. nuts
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    2 egg whites
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine first 4 ingredients in a saucepan.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved.
    Cook without stirring to firm ball stage or until mixture forms a firm ball which does not flatten when dropped in cold water.
    Just before it reaches the ball stage, beat the egg whites until stiff.
