Potato Cheese Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 slices bacon, cooked
    1 c. chopped onion
    2 c. cubed red potatoes
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
    1/2 c. medium picante sauce
    1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
    1/2 lb. Velveeta cheese, cubed
Preparation
    Cook bacon until crisp in saucepan.
    Remove bacon and drain all but 1 tablespoon drippings.
    Add onion to drippings and cook until tender.
    Add remaining ingredients, except cheese.
    Bring to a boil and reduce heat.
    Cover and simmer until potatoes are tender.
    Add cheese, stirring, until melted (8 1/2 cups).
