White Rice Browned - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. uncooked white rice
    2 1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 cans beef consomme
    2 c. water
    1/2 c. chopped blanched almonds
Preparation
    Melt butter in large frying pan; add rice.
    Cook over very slow fire, stirring often, until rice is golden brown.
    Place in 2-quart casserole.
    Sprinkle on seasonings.
    When ready to bake, add consomme, water and nuts.
    Mix gently.
    Cover and bake at 300\u00b0 for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
    Do not stir.
    Serves 10.
